||The Cape Riverfront Market runs every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. May through October in the parking lot at 35 S. Spanish. Over 25 different vendors have a wide variety of local fruits and vegetables, specialty farm products, baked items, and artisan crafts available. In addition, live music and demonstrations are also hosted throughout the year and a seating area is provided. The market accepts Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) cards for qualifying goods to expand healthy options for low income individuals and families.
The Cape Marketeers Club that started in 2013 has expanded this year! The club is a program for kids ages 5-12 that provides activities to help them focus on nutrition, science and growing. Fun, educational experiments and games are hosted the second and fourth Saturday of each month from May to August. This is a free program where kids can earn $2 tokens to purchase fruit or vegetables at the market.

Tunes at Twilight is an award winning outdoor concert series held on Friday nights at the Common Pleas Courthouse Gazebo (Lorimier & Broadway) in downtown Cape Girardeau. Every week for six weeks in the spring and six weeks in the fall, hour long concerts are held showcasing a variety of artists. The event is sponsored by SoutheastHEALTH, Fox 23 KBSI and Cape Air. ||The National Corvette Caravan will make a stop in downtown Cape on August 26 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., so join us for an evening of colorful Corvettes, festivities and fun! A parade of Corvettes will start at 5 p.m. at Cape County Park South and head downtown - grab a spot along Broadway to watch these local Corvettes cruise downtown to welcome the Caravan to Cape Girardeau.
Hundreds of Corvettes will then be parked along Main Street, including local cars and cars participating in the Corvette Caravan. The Caravan is spending the night in Cape Girardeau as they journey to Bowling Green, KY to the National Corvette Museum. This is the first and probably only time this many Corvettes will be in Cape Girardeau, so don't miss it!
The cars will be on display on Main Street from about 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bring the little ones for fun exhibits from the Highway Patrol, Auto Tire and Parts and the Cape Girardeau Police Department. Hotrod Nights will provide music and many downtown shops and restaurants will be open.
Clear your calendars for September 6 and plan to attend Old Town Cape's primary fundraiser - the 27th Annual Charles L. Huston Auction. Held at the Isle of Capri Cape Girardeau's Event Center, the event is sure to be exemplary. From delicious hors d'oeuvres, an exciting ambiance and a host of fantastic items to bid on, you won't want to miss it.
Auction proceeds benefit downtown revitalization by enabling Old Town Cape and its committees and volunteers to encourage building renovations; to help strengthen and support current businesses, while also bringing new outfits to our district; to implement beautification measures; to promote downtown as a viable option to live, work and play; and to bring special events to our area, just to name a few.
Tickets are $40 each and may be purchased in advance by calling the Old Town Cape office, (573) 334-8085. Limited tables of 8 for $400 are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If interested in donating an item to be auctioned off, please fill out the 2014 Auction Donation Form and drop the form and item off to Old Town Cape's office, 418 Broadway. ||The Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run is a coast-to-coast vintage motorcycle race, and they'll be coming through Cape Girardeau on Tuesday, September 9! The Motorcycle Cannonball kicks off at Daytona Beach, FL on September 5 and ends in Tacoma, WA on September 21. They'll begin the day on September 9 in Clarksville, TN and stay the night here in Cape Girardeau.
To celebrate, we are throwing them a Welcome Party, and you're invited too! Spanish Street in downtown Cape will be closed, and vintage bikes galore will be parked on both sides of the street Themis down to Merriwether.
